A) H2 has the highest energy density among the other known fuels. Biohydrogen gas is considered, as potential energy carrier since it is renewable and does not produce the greenhouse effect. Biohydrogen can be produced in three broad ways: dark fermentation, biophotolysis (using microalgae), and photofermentation.
B) In photofermentative H2 production, Purple Non-Sulfur (PNS) bacteria use light energy to overcome the positive free energy of activation and सतत सूचकांक CFDs produce H2 by utilizing organic acids as substrate. Photofermentative H2 production is a multifactor system. Multiparameters statistical experimental design methodology may be adopted to improve the efficiency of H2 production.
C) CFD simulation was carried out for the designed annular bioreactor towards uniform fluid dynamics and heat transfer throughout the reactor. Mathematical modeling on substrate utilization for biomass during H2 production and kinetics of substrate consumption for H2 production by PNS bacteria gave good simulated results. The kinetic parameters determined for H2 production is useful for the scaling up of the process.
D) PNS bacteria (immobilized on transparent porous surface of polyurethane beads) was used in exponential phase leading to higher H2 production rate and light conversion efficiency than that of suspended cells.

It starts with an introduction to the UCG process and process modelling inputs in the form of reaction kinetics, flow patterns, spalling rate, and transport coefficient that are elaborated with methods to generate the same are described with illustrations.
